Travel deep into the Nubian desert on a private day trip from Aswan to the spectacular Abu Simbel Temples. Carved directly into the mountainside by Ramses II, these massive rock temples are masterpieces of ancient engineering and devotion. With round-trip transfers and a professional Egyptologist guide, this tour offers a seamless and enriching experience of one of Egypt’s most awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Your journey begins with an early pickup (approx. 4:30 AM) from your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan. Travel south in a private, air-conditioned vehicle through the vast Nubian desert.
Upon arrival, your guide will introduce you to the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Both temples were relocated stone-by-stone during the construction of the Aswan High Dam to save them from rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Admire the colossal statues of Ramses II standing 20 meters high, and walk inside to see detailed carvings, sacred chambers, and solar alignment wonders. Then, visit the Temple of Nefertari, one of the few temples in Egypt dedicated to a queen and goddess Hathor.
Head to the ancient granite quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk, which would have been the largest obelisk ever constructed had it not cracked. It provides deep insights into ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques.
Enjoy free time to take photos and explore at your own pace before returning to Aswan.
Relax during the return trip, arriving at your hotel or cruise by early afternoon.
